How can I change my portrait to a picture of me?

Also @Kywildcat, make sure you are logged into your FB acct on TriPeaks. TriPeaks will use your FB profile pic of you if have logged in

It sounds like i need a Facebook account in order to customize my portrait. Is that correct?

Yes @DanS, TriPeaks will only use either the normal game portraits, or your FB profile pic. You can customize a FB profile pic, and that can be displayed in your TriPeaks account.
If you don’t already have a FB account, it’s easy to sign up.
Another benefit to having a FB account is, your game progress is stored on a separate server, instead of your device. I learned the hard way that if something happens to your device, you lose that TriPeaks account and have to start from scratch on your new (or in my case factory reset) device.
