Uh oh - Lu Lu Tennant, Tiki Island’s best police officer (and Marina’s sister) has brought you all in for questioning:
Have you ever unknowingly broken a law only to find out that it was illegal later on? If Lu Lu Tennant appeared at your door and demanded a confession, would you if you knew it would mean paying a fine?

When I was 18, I had a boyfriend join the Airforce. I put a care package together and found a really funny cigarette lighter I thought he would like and mailed it to him. Well a few days later I got the nastiest, letter in the mail letting me know that it is illegal to mail lighters. My bad, I was only 18 and honestly didnt even think about it. He got tje box and the light was not in it. They took it out. I am 45 now and think good lord how stupid was I!!!
Well I can’t say Iv knowingly broke any laws, but if I had and someone showed up at my door they are there because they know I did it. So if they show me the proof the fine would be mine to pay regardless of the amount.
I accidentally walked out of wal mart with an unpaid item in my cart and went back in to pay for it. So yea if I did something and someone showed at my door I would pay it.
I was eleven and a cheeky kid, thought I was the dogs bollocks, blah blah. Anyhoo, this guy was dating my best friend at the time and he gave me his phone to look after as I was the only one with a bag. Instead of reminding him to take it when he forgot, I took it home and read through his messages. A day later I admitted i’d took it, but his mum was adamant I was a thief and tried to convince the po po to arrest me! The lovely officer calmed her down and explained how it would ruin my life and kids make mistakes, I was then cautioned just because I didn’t tell him he’d forgot his phone then denied having it later!
Well Lt. Lulu here’s the thing I’ve always been the goody two shoe girl, the designated driver, the home before curfew person but this time and this time only I was a bad girl. Yes I did it, I admit it but it was so worth it. And yes I’ll pay the fine. Be more than happy to. So much fun. I mean I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.
Supposedly it’s illegal to sit down on sidewalks in certain Texas towns… who knew?! I’ve definitely done that but never would’ve imagined it was a law! I doubt anyone would be pursuing that fine but I’d be asking for evidence before anything
I am sure somewhere along the way, I have unknowingly broken a law that I was unaware of and yes, I would confess even if it meant a fine today! Well maybe not exactly today, cuz I am broke until payday lol!
I have tried to recall anytime that I had ever knowingly broken the law and was later questioned about it. Knowing how I was as a rebellious teenager, it if most likely that I had. However, having the mother and grandparents that I had, I would have owned my behavior, without blaming anyone else, and suffered the consequences. Growing up in the 60’s and in the Filmore area in San Francisco, you obeyed your parents rules, while still testing the limited, or risked jail and street life.
I do recall doing a lot of community service work but not volunteering for it. So I must have been breaking some family and or community laws. Today, if I was confronted about a law I broke, knowingly or unknowingly, I’d accept the consequences.
I’ve learned over the years to assume that everything I do is illegal.the entire medical staff at the VA hospital, because I was smoking in my room. I had asked the nurse for an ashtray oh, and she kind of off handedly said “sure I’ll get you one”. Apparently she was joking. Apparently that’s illegal.
