There are 2 events that are mutually exclusive, where being successful at one reduces your chances at succeeding at another. So really if you’re looking to get the best bang for your buck, should you chase Poi on Sunday or chase gold stars on diamond chest days.
One qualifier, I’ve never opened a diamond chest. :(
Good question! I’m not sure one answer fits all. I haven’t won a diamond chest either.
I have won the diamond chest once. I feel it’s the better choice.
I like to chase him but it is very expensive.
I’ve never won the diamond chest, but I love chasing Poi on double Sunday and have been lucky and caught him twice and two separate Sunday’s. 
Still feeling unfairness of this event. Cn only get gold stars for chest @ whatever island, or is it whatever level, we’re on. Don’t know hw mny players hv enuf coins, without digging into pocket, to try to get 50 gold stars…even if we are one star short of getting regular chest…to try to earn Diamond Chest.
You can attempt to husband your resources before attempting the diamond chest. You do have a full 24 hours to attempt it after all and it’s not a one time event.
Okay. So I realized that the comparison was inaccurate. It’s really 2x Poi AND 3 wood chests versus 1 diamond chest. Given that, I decided to chase Poi last night as the better option. Netted 41400 coins and the usual minor nick knacks from the 3 wood chests and a total of 4 red star boosters and 2 thirty second time banks from Poi. I’m thinking that haul beats the diamond chest and I didn’t even pick very well/get very lucky with the Poi treasure drops.
